National Blood Bottle Shortage

“A supplier to the NHS has advised NHS England of a global shortage of some equipment used for taking blood tests. This is having an impact on all healthcare providers.  We have received instruction to stop all non-urgent blood test until the 17th September.

Anyone who needs a test for urgent health problems, will still get one but where your clinician recommends that it’s safe to do so, then you may be asked to come back for a test at a later date, or your appointment may be rescheduled.

Given the nature of the shortage, we cannot give an exact date for when the test will be rescheduled, but please be assured that if your condition or symptoms require it, then you will get a test, and we will be re-booking your test when supplies become more easily available.

For all annual long term condition reviews appointments, we will continue to undertake your review without the blood test, and will offer a shorter appointment in October to have the bloods taken once this shortage has been rectified.

If your condition or symptoms change or get worse, please contact us as you would normally.”

We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration, however this is outside of the control of the practice.  All efforts to reserve blood bottles for URGENT needs must be maintained for the safety of everybody.
