Covid Vaccination Update

You may have seen on the news that the Covid vaccination campaign has been brought forward to help vaccinate the vulnerable cohorts from the new BA.2.86 variant of Covid-19 called Eris. Patients eligible are:

  • residents in a care home for older adults
  • all adults aged 65 years and over
  • persons aged 18 to 64 years in a clinical risk group, as laid out in the Immunisation Green Book, COVID-19 Chapter (Green Book)
  • frontline health and social care workers
  • persons aged 18 to 64 years who are household contacts (as defined in the Green Book) of people with immunosuppression
  • persons aged 18 to 64 years who are carers (as defined in the Green Book) and staff working in care homes for older adults.

We have already invited these groups to book their flu vaccine from the 30th September onwards, which is when our flu vaccine supply arrives.

The practice is working with the local GM Integrated Care Organisation to finalise when the COVID vaccine will be available.

Please can we ask that you refrain from telephoning the practice as we do not have any further information to share at this stage. Once we know how much vaccine we will have access to, we will update this announcement.

The practice ambition is to be able to offer both flu and Covid vaccine at the same appointment subject to having the Covid vaccine supply.

We will be sending a second wave of invitations to all eligible cohorts from the week commencing 11th September. Please wait for your invitation before contacting the practice. Thank you
